In Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day is a recognized national holiday. Banks, stores, and businesses are all closed for the day.
1962 marked the first time Chicago dyed their river green for St Patrick’s Day.
The odds of finding a four-leaf clover are about 1 in 10,000.
For most of the 20th century, Saint Patrick’s Day was considered a strictly religious holiday in Ireland. The nation’s pubs were actually closed for business on March 17.
St. Patrick is responsible for converting the people of Ireland to Christianity.
